10 things you did not know about Emmerson Mnangagwa (Third President of Zimbabwe)
1. His parents were politically active farmers, and he had to flee to Zambia with his family because of his father's resistance against white settlers,
2. His nickname is Ngwena (Crocodile) which came from being ruthless and being part of military trained fighters called the 'Crocodile Gang', the members of which he met in China. They were said to have blew up trains and killed a white farmer,
3. In 1965 he was sentenced to 10 years of prison, after he escaped execution by hanging as he was under 21. Apparently while in prison he was tortured to the point where he lost hearing the left ear,
4.He served his sentence at Grey Street , Khami Prison and then Harare Prison, where he met Robert Mugabe, which pushed him more into politics,
5. He completed his "O" and "'A" levels while in prison through correspondence, and then enrolled for a law degree with the University of London,
6. After prison he went back to Zambia and completed his law studies with the University of Zambia,
7.He later met Robert Mugabe and they became close friends which later saw him as Mr Mugabe's bodyguard,
8.He also served as Minister of State Security and the Minister of Defence from 2009 to 2013,
